Treado – Dataprivacy

Last updated: 2026/07/12

This privacy policy explains how the Treado app handles your data.

App Provider

Treado is developed by Enrico Weinhold. Your step and health data stays entirely on your device. The developer has no access to it and is therefore not a „data controller“ for this data under the GDPR — you remain in full control. For any questions about the app, you can reach the developer using the contact form on this website.

Our Approach

Treado is deliberately designed to collect as little data as possible, and to keep that data on your device. There is no server connection, no advertising, no analytics or tracking software, and no sharing of data with third parties for advertising or analytics purposes.

What Data Does Treado Process?

Health Data (Apple Health / HealthKit)

Treado reads your step count and walking/running distance from Apple Health to show you your progress, statistics, and journey progress.

  • Access: Read-only. Treado never writes data back into Apple Health.
  • Storage: This data is processed exclusively on your device and stays there. It is never transmitted to the developer or to any third-party server.
  • Legal basis: Your consent, given through Apple’s system-level Health permission dialog (Art. 6(1)(a), Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR, since this constitutes health data).
  • Withdrawal: You can revoke this access at any time via iOS Settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Treado).

Settings and App Usage Data

Treado stores settings locally on your device, such as your daily step goal, chosen accent color, theme, current streak, selected journey, and journey progress. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to the developer.

Widget and Apple Watch Data

To allow Home Screen widgets, Lock Screen widgets, and the Apple Watch app to display current values, relevant data (step count, goal, color, streak) is shared between the app and its extensions via an „App Group“ within Apple’s infrastructure, on your own device(s). This data never leaves your Apple ecosystem and is not transmitted to the developer.

Semi-Annual Reminder (iCloud Key-Value Store)

To show you a friendly reminder about voluntarily supporting the app’s development no more than roughly every 6 months, Treado stores a date in Apple’s iCloud Key-Value Store. This storage is tied to your Apple ID and managed by Apple; the developer has no access to this data. It contains no personal or health-related information, only a timestamp.

In-App Purchases (Voluntary Support)

Treado offers voluntary, one-time in-app purchases to support its development. These purchases are handled entirely through Apple’s App Store and StoreKit. The developer never receives any payment or card details; these remain with Apple. Apple’s own privacy policy additionally applies.

Notifications

Treado can optionally show local notifications (e.g. when you reach your goal, a daily afternoon/evening reminder, or when you complete a journey stage). These notifications are scheduled and triggered entirely on your device. No data is sent to any server. This feature is disabled by default and can be individually enabled or disabled at any time in the app’s settings.

No Analytics or Tracking Services

Treado does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. No usage profiles are created, and no data is processed or shared for advertising purposes.

International Data Transfers

Since Apple services such as HealthKit synchronization (across your own devices), iCloud, and the App Store may run on servers outside the EU (particularly in the US), some processing may occur outside the EU as part of using these Apple services. This is governed by Apple’s own privacy policies, which include their own independent safeguards.

Your Rights

Since all personal or health-related data is processed exclusively on your device and is not accessible to the developer, you can exercise most of your rights directly yourself:

  • Access and deletion: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored app data from your device.
  • Withdrawing HealthKit permission: Possible at any time via iOS system settings.
  • Right to complain: You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe the processing of your data violates the GDPR.

For any questions, you can reach the developer by using the contact form.

Children

Treado is not directed at children under the age of 16 and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This privacy policy may be updated as the app evolves, to reflect new features or legal requirements. The current version will always be available at this address.
