Overview
Really Simple Reader is intentionally designed as a local, privacy-conscious app. No registration, account, or email address is required to use it. We do not use any analytics or tracking tools, and we do not share data with advertising networks or third parties for marketing purposes.
What Data Is Processed
Locally stored data: Your feed subscriptions, read/saved articles, and settings are stored exclusively on your device (SwiftData). This data never leaves your device unless you enable sync.
Optional iCloud sync: If you enable sync across your devices, your feed and article data is stored via Apple’s CloudKit service in your private iCloud account. This data is accessible only to you through your Apple ID – we as the developer have no access to it. Apple’s own privacy policy additionally applies (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/).
Feed content: When you add a feed, the app fetches content directly from the feed URL you provide. This creates a direct connection between your device and that feed provider; their own privacy practices apply to those requests. We have no knowledge of which feeds you subscribe to.
In-app purchases: Purchases within the app (e.g. Full Access) are processed entirely through Apple’s StoreKit. Payment information (e.g. credit card details) is handled exclusively by Apple and is never accessible to us.
Notifications: Notifications about new articles are triggered entirely on your device. No data is transmitted to our own or any third-party server for this purpose.
Contacting us: If you contact us via the contact form, we process the information you provide (e.g. email address, message content) solely to handle your inquiry.
No Sharing With Third Parties
Aside from the technically necessary processing by Apple described above (CloudKit, StoreKit), we do not share data with third parties, do not sell data, and do not use advertising or analytics services.
Your Rights
Since virtually all app data lives locally on your device, you can delete it at any time yourself (by uninstalling the app or managing your iCloud storage).
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example when new app features are added. The current version is always available on this page.
